The Bishop’s School boys’ water polo team from La Jolla travelled to the Bay Area this weekend and handed Menlo- Atherton a decisive 15-5 loss on Saturday afternoon. The Bears got off to a quick start and jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Andrew Higgitt and Jordan Bernstein, but the Knights scored 6 unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead midway through the second period and an 8-3 lead into halftime. M-A came out strong in the 3rd quarter on consecutive goals by Jed Springer and Higgitt to cut the lead to 8-5. But it was all Bishop’s the rest of the way. Bishop’s Matt Michalko led all scorers with 4 tallies. Higgitt and Springer had 2 each for Menlo-Atherton. On this trip Bishop’s school defeated St. Francis 12-10 on Friday and lost 11-9 to Sacred Heart Prep earlier on Saturday. Menlo-Atherton will host Sequoia in a PAL match at 3:00PM Monday.
