Freshman Janet Liu earned the deciding victory at No. 1 singles to pace the Palo Alto girls' tennis team to a 4-3 triumph over visiting R.L. Stevenson in the opening round of the Central Coast Section tournament on Tuesday. Liu posted a 6-4, 6-2 triumph to wrap things up after freshman Emma Marti had won at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-2; the No. 1 doubles team of Sophie Biffar and Gracie Dulik had won, 6-0, 6-0; and the No. 3 doubles tandem of Christine Koepnick and Lauren Mah had rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win. The Vikings (22-0) visit top-seeded Monta Vista (19-3) on Wednesday in the second round.
