Varsity Boys Football
Palo Alto 61, Gilroy 7
Date of competition: Friday, September 25, 2009
The Paly Vikings (2-1) easily coasted by visiting Gilroy in what was originally predicted to be a tough win for Paly. With the help of superstar Paly wide receiver Joc Pederson, the Vikings consistently added to their lead throughout the game. Other scores came from standout linebacker Jared Beeson on a recovered fumble, junior wide receiver Devonte Adams, junior running back Miles Anderson, and senior running back Terry Beasley. Five touchdowns are credited to junior QB Christoph Bono, who connected with Pederson 4 times, and Adams the other time. This night's highly productive offensive game was without speedster wide receiver Maurice Williams, and standout lineman Troy Boyland, who were both out for most of the game with minor injuries. This win puts the Vikings back on track after last week's tough loss to host Archbishop Mitty. The Vikings will host Saratoga next week to begin league play. The next 3 weeks should be fairly easy wins for the Vikes as they play Saratoga, Gunn, and Homestead. Following those 3 games, they will be put back to the test as they play Milpitas, who is ranked right up at the same level as Mitty.
