The Menlo girls' water polo team rallied to force overtime before finally falling to host Aragon, 7-6, in sudden death on Wednesday in a PAL Bay Division match. The Knights (1-2, 1-4) trailed by 4-3 heading into the fourth period, which saw the match deadlocked at 5 at the end of regulation. Menlo took a 6-5 lead after the first of two mandatory overtime periods but Aragon tied it after the second. The Dons then produced the winning goal in the third OT period.
Daisy Anderson scored four goals for Menlo with teammate Hailey Smith added two. Layla Allman had 11 saves in goal for the Knights, who will host Buchanan of Fresno on Thursday (6 p.m.) before heading into the 15th annual Amanda MacDonald Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Menlo will open the tourney against Presentation at Menlo College at 1:50 p.m. The championship game is Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
