Palo Alto senior Philip MacQuitty won individual honors while the Vikings took second and Menlo-Atherton third to highlight local runners at Saturday's annual Lowell Invitational in Golden Gate Park. Paly and M-A competed in the varsity boys' No. 2 race, the faster of two events.

MacQuitty won the 2.93-mile race in 13:42 after running third at the first mile and second at mile No. 2. The Vikings scored 58 points to take second to CCS rival Mountain View, which won with 37. Menlo-Atherton was a strong third with 69 points with Joe Ocon leading the way in eighth place in 14:44. The Bears place five runners among the top 20 while Paly had four.
