Menlo 4th, Scott Roche Invitational

The Menlo boys’ water polo team finished up the annual Scott Roche Invitational with a fourth-place finish on Saturday at Menlo College. After advancing to the semifinals, the Knights (4-2) dropped an 11-4 decision to top-seeded Catholic Cathedral (San Diego). Relegated to the third-place game, Menlo fell to St. Mary’s, 9-6.
Catholic Cathedral went on to win the tournament with a 10-9 victory over defending CCS Division I champion St. Francis, 10-9. Menlo-Atherton finished seventh following a 12-7 victory over La Jolla. The Bears (4-2) lost to Bellarmine in the third round, 12-9.
Jack Finch scored twice for Menlo in the loss to Catholic Cathedral while goalie Keegan Williams had 12 saves. In the loss to St. Mary’s, Jack Foley’s four goals led the Knights.
Menlo will visit Menlo-Atherton on Monday in the first of two PAL Bay Division showdowns. Game time is 3 p.m.
