Saratoga 59, Gunn 30
Date of competition: Friday, November 2, 2007
The Gunn football team gave up touchdowns on Saratoga's first nine possessions and eventually fell, 59-30, in a wild, marathon SCVAL El Camino Division football game Friday night. The Falcons held a 45-0 lead early in the third quarter before Gunn got on the board. "We've had a lot of injuries on defense," said Gunn coach Matt McGinn. "All year guys have stepped up but tonight it finally caught up to us." The Titans finally got on the board with six minutes to go in the third when Stephen Strnad connected on a 20-yard touchdown pass over the middle to Patrick Osagiede. Nate Burpee scored on a two-point conversion to make it 45-8. Gunn scored three tochdowns in the fourth quarter -- two on one-yard runs by Burpee and Strnad plus a 30-yard run by Josh Lee. Gunn (1-5, 3-6) closes its season next Friday by hosting Palo Alto in a nonleague game at 7 p.m.
