Stanford 2, Norte Dame 0
Date of competition: Sunday, September 13, 2009
A pair of quick strikes within three minutes of each other led the third-ranked Stanford women's soccer team past Notre Dame, 2-0, on Sunday morning as part of the Santa Clara Tournament.
The game was a rematch of last year's national semifinal contest in which the Irish beat Stanford, 1-0.
Freshman Mariah Nogueira scored her first college goal, a header off a crossing pass from Palo Alto grad Teresa Noyola, who crossed the ball from the right side of the box 10 minutes into the second half.
Junior forward Christen Press added her sixth goal of the season less than three minutes later. Lindsay Taylor sent the ball into the box for Kelley O'Hara, whose shot deflected off a defender and right to Press, who converted from short range.
