Senior quarterback Danny Diekroeger threw four touchdown passes in a little over a half as Menlo School's offense looked in midseason form during a 55-20 victory over Hamilton City on Friday night at Woodside High to open the 2009 high school football season.

Diekroeger threw touchdown passes of 53, 9, 45 and 27 yards and completed 11 of 18 passes for 195 yards with one interception before exiting midway through the third period. Clay Robbins caught eight passes for 108 yards and added a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown. Brandon Nichols led all rushers with 120 yards on 13 carries. He had touchdown runs of one and 11 yards in addition to catching a shovel pass from Diekroeger for a 45-yard score.

Menlo held Hamilton to 90 yards in the first half, 170 for the game. The Knights (1-0) will visit Carmel next Saturday at 2 p.m.
