The Palo Alto 14-year-old all-stars have won four straight games and have earned a rematch with Hayward in the Northern California State Tournament championship at Clark Field in Woodland.
Palo Alto picked up another victory Wednesday night, defeating Sonoma 7-2, to earn a spot in the championship game on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Once again, Palo Alto got phenomenal pitching, this time from starter Christian Kadash. Kadash pitched five innings, allowing only one hit and one walk. Kadash was relieved by Nick Wells, who matched Kadash's dominance, surrendering just one hit.
Complementing Kadash and Wells' great pitching, Palo Alto crushed the ball, picking up 12 hits.
Wells contributed immensely to the offense with two hits and three RBI. Andrew Lim and Justin Grey also had great days at the dish, collecting three hits each. Grey additionally drove in a run, as did Eric Tam.
Palo Alto will face Hayward in the state championship Thursday. However, because Hayward defeated Palo Alto, 5-4, in an opening-round matchup, Palo Alto must defeat Hayward twice to win the championship. If Palo Alto can force a challenge game, it will take place 30 minutes after the first game concludes.
