With sophomore Philip MacQuitty running his fastest time ever on the 2.95-mile Crystal Springs course, a 15:12, the Palo Alto boys' cross-country team held off Mountain View to win the SCVAL El Camino Division championships on Tuesday in Belmont. Paly finished with 48 points as MacQuitty edge Mountain View's Garrett Rowe, who clocked the same time as MacQuitty. Paly's Charlie Avis was seventh (16:07), Brian Karvelas was 10th (16:19), Julius Berezin was 14th (16:35) and Skyler Cummins clinched the win with a 16th-place time of 16:39. Gunn finished fourth with 97 points.
