Coming off a sweep of the Sacramento Smokey's the previous weekend, the Palo Alto Oaks swept the visiting Santa Clara Aztecs, 11-7 and 11-0 on Sunday in a Western Baseball Association doubleheader at Baylands Athletic Center. Starting pitcher Matt Campbell cruised and was never in any trouble. He gave up only two hits struck out four. Ricky Navarro came in to pitch the fifth and final inning and struck out the side.

Offensively, the Oaks scored in every inning except for the fourth. In the first, Kevin Becker put down a perfect drag bunt and was plated by a Greg Matson triple. Matson scored on an error. In the second, Ben Parnes led off with a double and Skylar Brewer followed with a single. Tyler Finley then doubled to score both Parnes and Brewer. Evan Warner then singled to bring in Finley. Warner promptly stole second and advanced to third on the throw. Warner scored on another Aztec error.

In the third, Parnes again led off with a hit, this time a single and advanced on another hit by Brewer. Ryan Morris scored Parnes on an infield grounder. Warner followed with another single and after a hit batter and single by Matson, stole home for the Oaks' ninth run. In the fifth for the Oaks, Morris led off with a single and advance on Warner's third hit of the game. Becker then doubled to score Morris. Sean Scott concluded the Oaks' scoring with a deep sacrifice fly ball.

Next up for the Oaks will be a nonleague game Wednesday against the Menlo Park Legends at Menlo-Atherton High at 5 p.m.
