The Stanford Red 20-under women's water polo team remained unbeaten in the national qualifying tournament with a 14-4 triumph over Diablo B on Saturday at Palo Alto High. With one game remaining against the Stanford White team at 7 p.m., the Red squad all but locked up a berth for the national tournament next month in Stockton. Stanford's Kim Krueger, the former Menlo School standout, scored four goals while Alyssa Lo added three and former Sacred Heart Prep star Pallavi Menon added two along with Cassie Churnside.
Stanford actually trailed 3-1 after the first quarter, but scored five goals in the second period to pull away. Stanford opened the tournament on Friday with a 19-3 romp over Marin and a 15-5 triumph over San Jose Splash.
The 20-under tournament concludes Sunday at Palo Alto High, with Stanford White wrapping things up against San Jose Splash at 4:45 p.m.
