G3 – Saturday’s night cap was against the Sunnyvale Wicked. Different opponent, same Heat offense, who for the third consecutive game, put 11 runs across. For the first time all day, Sophie Frick didn’t reach base on one attempt (only 1 of 2 with a single, walk, and two runs scored). But starting catcher and clean up hitter Katie Garvey picked up the pace, getting on base all 3 times, with 2 singles, and a dropped strike 3. And while the hitting was down, the Heat took advantage of 8 walks, with 7 of 8 getting around scoring with aggressive running on the base paths and stealing home at every opportunity. The scoring walkers included Maya Heron (twice), Olivia Horton (twice), Lauren Graf, Mackenzie Glassford, & Sophie Frick. The 2-0-1 performance put Palo Alto in the #3 seed position for the single elimination round on Sunday.
