The Menlo boys' tennis team advanced to its 12th appearance in the Central Coast Section finals following a 7-0 dismantling of No. 5 St. Ignatius on Wednesday in a semifinal at the Courtside Tennis Club in Los Gatos. The top-seeded Knights (23-2) will face No. 2-seeded Bellarmine (22-1) for the section title on Friday at 2 p.m.

Menlo won every match in straight sets. Senior Daniel Hoffman showed just how dominant the Knights were by losing the first two games and then rallying for a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 1 singles. Juniors Jamin Ball (No. 2) and Patrick Chase (No. 4) also won along with senior Max Glenn at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, the Knights lost a combined nine games while breezing past the Wildcats. By reaching the CCS finals, Menlo automatically has qualified for the NorCal Tournament, which begins May 23 in Oakley. The last time the Knights won the NorCal title was in 2007, when they toppled Bellarmine, 4-3, following a 5-2 victory over the Bells in the section final.
