The Menlo-Atherton boys’ tennis team kept its successful season going for one more day following a 6-1 victory over Silver Creek in a Central Coast Section team tournament opener on Wednesday at Mt. Pleasant High in San Jose. The Bears (16-3) next will face No. 8 Lynbrook (14-5) on Friday on the Vikings’ court in San Jose.

Despite a lengthy layoff after winning the PAL Bay Division title and being exempt from playing in the league playoffs, the Bears were ready as they dismissed their opponent behind outstanding play by the No. 1 doubles team of Avi Shah and Takai Tuionetoa, plus No. 1, 2 and 3 singles players George Horowitz, Alec Haley and Alden Mitchell.
