Palo Alto Little League baseball saw LPM defeat Morgan Gault 8-6 on Saturday, April 25 at Middlefield ballpark. LPM spotted starting pitcher Dillon Scheel for 6 runs over 2 innings, but Dillon pitched well in the clutch stranding 4 baserunners and striking out 2 batters. Morgan Gault’s Ethan Higashi then pitched 4 strong innings, limiting LPM to 2 runs on just 2 hits and striking out 5 batters. LPM’s lineup spread its hits around; Jasper McEvoy went 2-for-4 with a double and a single, while Rowan McEvoy, Ravi Levens, Roy Shadmon, Sean Weller, Jack Simison, Willie Barnett, and Garrett Reynolds each hit once. Meanwhile, Morgan Gault’s offense opened strong. Facing LPM’s Sean Stem, Dillon Scheel led off the first with a single and Ethan Higashi followed with a triple, and by the end of the first Morgan Gault had racked up three runs. Ravi Levens came in to shut down Morgan Gault with 2 strike outs in the first, and three more strike outs in the second. Sean Weller then pitched well for three innings, striking out 5 batters. But Morgan Gault never gave up, scoring 3 more runs in the 5th on clutch hitting by Alec Sullivan and Calder Hilde-Jones. Rowan McEvoy then closed the game for LPM, striking out 2 in the 6th.
