Date of competition: Thursday, April 23, 2009
The Menlo-Atherton boys’ tennis team wrapped up its first PAL Bay Division title with a 7-0 blasting of host Aragon on Thursday. The Bears (14-0, 15-3) made the regular-season finale even better by finishing the year with an undefeated league record. Motivated by the chance for a perfect league mark the Bears demolished the Dons with only two matches going to three sets. Senior George Horowitz moved into his former No. 1 singles spot for his final regular-season match and responded with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph. Junior Alec Haley dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 and polished off his opponent, 6-2, 6-1. Menlo-Atherton played four matches this week and won all four by 7-0 scores.
