The Central Coast Section tennis picture is beginning to get a bit more clear following Palo Alto's 6-1 nonleague victory over host Sacred Heart Prep on Monday. The Vikings (16-3) appear to be among the top four teams in the CCS this season and Monday's win further strengthened that as only one match (No. 3 doubles) went to a third set and the Vikings won that as Grant Audet and Alex Freeman produced a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 victory.

Palo Alto was missing senior Dan Schwartz in the singles lineup but still had plenty of depth to fill in. Sophomore Baramee Wongbanchai won at No. 1, senior Sam Wong took care of business at No. 2, freshman Nicky Hu won at No. 3 and senior John Mitchell moved up to No. 4 and produced a 6-0, 6-0 triumph to help drop the defending CCS champion Gators to 12-6 overall.

Palo Alto will play host to first-place Saratoga on Tuesday in a match that will decide the SCVAL De Anza Division title. The Vikings need a victory to force a co-championship. Paly also will host Gunn on Thursday (3:30 p.m.) to close out the regular season.
