Palo Alto tuned up for a big week in boys' tennis with a surprisingly easy 5-2 victory over visiting Monta Vista on Thursday in SCVAL De Anza Division action. The Vikings (8-1, 15-3) had only one singles starter (freshman Nicky Hu) and had to juggle their lineup with four players out. Drew Pearson and Cory McCroskey both moved into the singles lineup and produced victories in straight sets. Hu took over at No. 1 singles and also won, 6-4, 6-1. Palo Alto will visit Sacred Heart Prep on Monday, play host to first-place Saratoga on Tuesday and then welcome rival Gunn on Thursday to close the regular season.
