Menlo-Atherton 5, Aragon 2
Date of competition: Tuesday, March 24, 2009
Menlo-Atherton remains atop the PAL Bay Division tennis standings, thanks to a strong 5-2 victory over visiting Aragon on Tuesday. The Bears (5-0, 7-2) got off to a quick start by winning the top three singles matched while losing only six total games. Senior George Horowitz and juniors Alec Haley and Alden Mitchell provided the sweep. Aragon battled back, but M-A's four freshmen at No. 2 and 3 doubles wrapped things up. Zeke Brown and Matt Giordano won at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-4, an freshman twins Jesse and Christian Perkins produced a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3.
Things get a lot tougher on Wednesday when the Bears travel to face former league rival Menlo for a nonleague match at 3:30 p.m. On Thursday, the Bears are back to PAL action with a home match against Mills.
