Freshman Jordan Pries took a shutout into the eighth inning and the Stanford baseball team beat visiting Texas, 7-1, on Saturday.
Zach Jones had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Jeff Whitlow and Jonathan Kaskow also hit home runs for the Cardinal (3-7), which ended Texas' 11-game winning streak to open the season and its own six-game losing streak.
Pries allowed three hits in earning the win. Drew Storen got the final five outs.
Stanford and Texas finish the nonconference series Sunday at 1 p.m.
