The Sacred Heart Prep girls' soccer team completed its dream season by winning its first-ever Central Coast Section championship in the program's history on Saturday. The No. 2-seeded Gators put the finishing touches on 15-3-5 season with a 2-1 triumph over top-seeded Santa Cruz (15-4-5) in the CCS Division III title match at Valley Christian in San Jose.

Sophomore Abby Dalhkemper scored both goals for SHP, duplicating her two-goal effort in the semifinals. She scored the first goal in the 12th minute following a long run, during which she split two defenders and rifled a shot from 18-yard out. After Santa Cruz deadlocked the match on a goal by Ashlee Wilhelmsen, Dahlkemper and junior Lizzy Weisman teamed up for the winning goal just four minutes before halftime. Weisman's corner kick was deflected back to her and she passed low to Dahlkemper on the far post for the sophomore's 17th goal this season.

The victory capped a season that saw Sacred Heart Prep move to a new league (West Bay Athletic League), win its first-ever league crown and earn a berth into the CCS playoffs for the first time in school history. Sacred Heart loses only seven seniors, including co-captains Kira Abe and Katie Hosking plus starting keeper Abby Jones. Others concluding their prep careers included Jenny MacGregor, Emily Denton, Lauren Denniston and Brooke Marsal.
