In a season during which the Sacred Heart Prep girls won their first-ever league title and advanced to the Central Coast Section playoffs for only the first time, the Gators now stand a victory away from capturing their first section championship.

Sacred Heart Prep moved into the CCS Division III title match following a 2-1 triumph over No. 3 Notre Dame-Belmont in a semifinal magch on Thursday at Valley Christian in San Jose. The No. 2-seeded Gators (15-3-5) will face No. 1 Santa Cruz (16-3-4) for the championship on Saturday at 3 p.m., also at Valley Christian. Santa Cruz advanced with an 8-2 rout of No. 4 Santa Catalina in the other semifinal.

SHP sophomore Abby Dahlkemper, who earlier this season trained with the first team of the U.S. Under-17 National Team in Florida, showed off that talent once again by scoring both goals against the Tigers. The first goal came in the 12th minute when Dahlkemper took a corner kick from Lizzy Weisman and knocked it in. The Gators made it 2-0 just four minutes before halftime when Dahlkemper took a cross from Geena Graumann and drove a left-footed shot into the net.
