Notes: Former Menlo School standout Griff McGarry took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, settled for a 2-hitter over seven innings and took a no decision as Virginia rallied with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in Sunday’s elimination game. McGarry matched his career-high with 10 strikeouts (four in the second inning) and recorded the first quality start of the NCAA postseason by a Virginia pitcher. He retired 11 in a row at one point and has 18 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings this postseason. He’s still looking for his first win since Feb. 28, 2020.
