The Sacred Heart Prep girls’ soccer team kept pace with first-place Priory in the West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) with a 6-1 rout of visiting Mercy-Burlingame on Thursday. The second-place Gators improved to 8-0-2 in league (26 points) and 11-3-5 overall, remaining just one point behind the division-leading Panthers (9-1, 13-4-1), who beat Notre Dame-San Jose on Thursday. Sacred Heart Prep will host Priory next Tuesday at 3 p.m., with the division championship likely to be decided at that time.

SHP senior Kira Abe scored three goals to lead the victory over Mercy. Lizzy Weisman added a goal and two assists and was involved in Mercy’s lone tally, an own goal that started with a cross from Weisman. The Gators were tied, 1-1, at halftime before exploding for five goals after intermission. Nicole Quilliam added a goal for the Gators and assisted on Weisman’s goal.
