The Priory girls' soccer team wrapped up its home schedule in the best way possible with a 4-0 victory over Notre Dame-San Jose in a West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) match on Thursday. The Panthers (13-4-1 overall) maintained their league lead with a 9-1 record for 27 points.
On Senior Day, senior Leslie Barkmann converted a penalty kick into the
first goal after Zoe Ciupitu was brought down in the penalty box. The second goal came from a breakaway nicely finished by senior Sarah Montgomery on a superb through ball from Barkmann.
In the second half, junior Adriana Cortes finished a cross from Ciupitu strongly into the corner. Finally, freshman Eugenia Jernick
had a nice one-touch finish off of a great ball from Cortes.
The Panthers will visit second-place Sacred Heart Prep on Tuesday (3 p.m.) in what could decide the league championship.
