Menlo College's men's soccer team earned its second win of the week on Saturday in Hayward as the Oaks tallied a season-best four goals in a 4-2 win over the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay. The win improves the Oaks to 6-1 on the season while the NCAA Div. II Pioneers fall to 2-3 on the campaign.

Kerr Goal, Staerz Goal, Own Goal
The Oaks scored early, 23 seconds into the match, when Noa Kerr notched his third goal of the season. The Pioneers tied it in the 15th minute but the Oaks retook the lead for good in the 24th minute when Tim Staerz buried one off the Michael Weber assist for his fourth of the season to make it 2-1. The third goal of the first half came on behalf of a Pioneer miscue which led to an own goal.

Weber Finds the Net
Midfielder Michael Weber sealed the deal for Menlo with his first goal as an Oak. The Zofingen, Switzerland native scored in the 67th minute, in response to a Pioneers' goal that made it 3-2. Weber scored the unassisted goal to give Menlo a two-goal cushion.

Unbeaten against the CCAA
The Oaks improved to 2-0 on the season against opponents from the NCAA Division II California Collegiate Athletic Association. Menlo also defeated CSU Monterey Bay on August 31st. The meeting between the Oaks and the Pioneers was the first since the 2007 season. Menlo is 3-7-1 all-time against the Pioneers.

Up Next
Menlo continues its tour of the NCAA Division II programs in the Bay Area as they host Pac West's Holy Names on Thursday at 4 p.m. It's the final nonconference matchup before diving into Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) action on October 5th against No. 5 Westmont.
