The Sacred Heart Prep girls’ soccer team tightened the West Bay Athletic League (Foothill Division) race considerably with a 6-0 romp over host Notre Dame-San Jose on Tuesday. The Gators improved to 7-0-2 in league (10-3-5 overall) and now trail first-place Priory (8-1) by a single point.
Sacred Heart raced to a 5-0 halftime lead while earning its 23rd point in the tight race. Priory has 24 points. Only the top two teams in the Foothill Division will earn automatic berths into the Central Coast Section playoffs.
Senior Kira Abe had a career day in the easy victory as she scored the first four goals of the match. Lizzy Weisman added the final two in addition to one assist. Geena Graumann and Jesse Ebner each had two assists for the Gators.
