The Menlo College men’s and women’s golf teams were victorious in a first-of-its-kind three-way match with Vanguard University and Hope International University in Long Beach on Tiuesday. The Oaks begin their season on a strong note. The men won 301-304 (Vanguard)-315 (Hope) and the women won 332-375 (Hope)-412 (Vanguard).

Return to Dominance
Last season Julika Grosspietsch became the first Oak to advance to the NAIA National Tournament and she got off to a great start on Tuesday. Her opening round of 76 led the Oaks women's squad, which cruised to victory over Vanguard and Hope International. She was followed closely by Catherine Batang, who shot a 77 in her Menlo debut. Franchesca Garcia also made her debut as an Oak with a solid round of 82, giving the Oaks three top-tier golfers to anchor the team.

From the Stars
"Today's round had some highs and lows. I started my first nine pretty strong and struggled at the back nine due to my mental game. All in all, the score was okay." – Julika Grosspietsch

Up Next
Menlo is scheduled to compete in the Sonoma State Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, September 16 and 17.
