Getting a second-half goal from senior Michael Walker, the Menlo boys’ soccer team pulled out a 1-0 victory over host Priory on Friday in Portola Valley. The victory keeps the Knights (7-1-3, 10-3-4) right on the heels of first-place Sacred Heart Prep (8-0-2), which has 26 points. Menlo is second with 24 points. The teams will face each other on Feb. 9 in the final regular-season match on the Gators’ field.
Walker finally broke the deadlock of a hard-fought contest midway through the second half with a header from fellow senior Brenden McMorrow's flighted long ball. Menlo had several excellent opportunities to close the game, but couldn't find the target. But it was another spirited display from a Menlo team that now has posted 10 wins for the first time in six seasons.
