The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large team, selected by CoSIDA, has been announced and Menlo College has one athlete on the prestigious list. Anthony Orozco earned this honor in District 4, becoming the eleventh athlete in school history to do so, and the sixth athlete in the 2018-19 season. He is the first wrestler from Menlo College to ever be named to a CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

The Murrieta native capped off an impressive season winning an individual title at 184 at the NAIA National Championships, where he was also named the NAIA Tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler.

The All-American amassed a 37-2 overall record that included a CCC Championship at the same weight class and CCC Wrestler of the Year honors. Orozco also won in commanding fashion throughout the season racking up wins via seven-pins, eight-technical falls and eight-major decisions.

Orozco was no stranger to the podium at several prestigious tournaments throughout the season placing; 1st- Menlo Open, 1st-Roadrunner Open, 2nd-Reno Tournament of Champions, 2nd Missouri Valley Invitational, 1st- California Collegiate Open, 1st-Menlo Open. Earning 2019 CCC Academic All-Conference honors, Orozco maintains a 3.65 GPA in Accounting, as well as, being named a 2019 Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete.

Orozco is the lone member of the Golden State Athletic Conference to make the At-Large All-District team, with a bevy of other CCC athletes making the list. Joining Orozco on the mats are Collin Anderson of Embry-Riddle and Riley Williams of Wayland Baptist. Of the group, six are men's golfers, with three wrestlers, and one swimmer.

In order to be nominated for the Academic All-America award, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better in both undergrad and grad schools. The student-athlete must also participate in at least 50 percent of the team's matches and be at least of sophomore status with one full year at the institution. Nominees are then voted on by Sports Information Directors of CoSIDA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
