The Menlo-Atherton girls' soccer team allowed a goal with just six minutes to play and had to settle for a 2-2 deadlock with visiting Terra Nova in a PAL Bay Division match on Thursday. After falling behind by 1-0, the Bears (1-2-1, 4-5-2) tied things up in the 54th minute when Sonia Kolarov lofted a corner kick to Vanessa Renkel, who tapped the ball to Tiffany Kung. All Kung had to do was drill the pass in for the deadlock.
Menlo-Atherton grabbed the lead at 2-1 just minutes later when Katie Flanagan crossed the ball to Renkel in front of the Tigers' goal. Renkel missed scoring on a header, but followed in the rebound. Terra Nova missed a penalty kick in the 62nd minute but finally found the back of the net in the final moments for the tie.

PAL Bay Division

MA -- Kung (Renkel), Renkel (unassisted).
Records: Menlo-Atherton 1-2-1 (4-5-2)
