Pepperdine scored twice in the final 1:09 of regulation to tie the game, and then scored with 49 seconds left in the second overtime to stun Stanford, 8-7, in the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's water polo tournament on Saturday. The Cardinal (24-4) plays UCLA in the third-place match on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and still has a chance to advance to the NCAA tournament. If USC beats the Waves in the championship match, Stanford would likely advance based on criteria established earlier in the season. If Pepperdine wins, the Waves get the automatic bid and USC will get the at-large berth. Drac Wigo and Janson Wigo each scored twice as Stanford overcame an early deficit to take a 6-4 edge in the fourth period.
