Major League Soccer returns to Stanford Stadium on Saturday night, with the San Jose Earthquakes taking on the LA Galaxy.

Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m. Estimated attendance is a full house of 50,000 people.

The Palo Alto Police Department expects heavy traffic on Embarcadero Road, El Camino Real, Sand Hill Road, Oregon Expressway, and surrounding streets beginning as early as mid-afternoon.

There will also be a short fireworks show at the end of the game, and we expect the crowd to stick around until the end to see it. As a result, traffic will likely be affected in the area until well after 11 p.m.

Please let your neighbors know about the fireworks, and let them know there's no need to call 9-1-1 to report the loud booms they'll hear.

Let your pets know, too, while you're at it.
