The Menlo girls' soccer team followed up its season-opening shutout of Palo Alto with a 5-2 nonleague triumph over visiting Sequoia on Thursday. The Knights (2-0) grabbed a 3-1 halftime lead as seniors Madi Shove and Casey Finch joined with junior Katie Baum to find the back of the net. Baum's goal was assisted by Shove.
In second half, a Sequoia goal cut Menlo's lead to 3-2, but Baum responded quickly by scoring off another assist from Shove, who finished off the scoring after getting an assist from sophomore Maggie Brown.
