The Menlo College softball team salvaged a split of its doubleheader with visiting William Jessup on Saturday.

The Warriors ended Menlo's 10-game winning streak in the opener, 7-1. The Oaks came back to win the nightcap, 5-1.

Menlo moves to 27-16 on the season and 11-9 in GSAC play, while William Jessup now stands at 15-16 overall and 11-9 in conference play.

Game 1
Menlo struggled offensively in the first game, in which the Warriors scored their seven runs on 16 hits.

Menlo scored its only run on a sacrifice fly by Brooke Menesini.

Sarah Reyes started the game for the Oaks and was tagged with the loss. She pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs (one earned) on 10 hits. Jordan Kennedy took over and allowed three runs on six hits.

Game 2
Menlo broke up a scoreless tie with five runs in the fifth inning, which included Cassie Grana's first career home run, a three-run shot to right field. Lauren Harrison and Reyes also drove in a run.

Victoria Cervantes took it from there, allowing a run on five hits. She walked one and struck out three.

The Oaks will get some time off before they return to the diamond as they have a date with Biola University on April 21st.

Coming into the series against Biola, Menlo has an 8-8 lifetime record against the Eagles and has won five of the last six against Biola. First pitch is scheduled for noon at Wunderlich Field.
