Turner Baty's one-yard plunge with 22.2 seconds to play carried the Menlo-Atherton football team to a dramatic 28-25 victory over visiting Woodside on Saturday. The triumph gave the Bears (5-0, 8-2) their second straight undefeated PAL Bay Division season and second consecutive championship.
Woodside (3-2, 7-3) had scored with 4:03 left in the game on a 25-yard run by Jason Simpson. The Bears quickly rallied, moving 80 yards to score the winning touchdown. A 46-yard pass from Baty to Sam Knapp was the big play, giving the Bears a first down on the Woodside seven-yard line.
