Menlo College Volleyball was playing their third home game of this four-game stand as they went up against Arizona Christian. The Oaks dominated from the start and would win the match in straight sets. Menlo never gave Arizona Christian a chance from the get go, not allowing the Firestorm to score more than 19 in a set. The victory moves Menlo to one game within .500 as they are now 13-14 on the season and 5-8 in the GSAC. The loss moves Arizona Christian to 2-15 overall.

Menlo was in control through the entire game, not allowing Arizona Christian to get any momentum or having a chance to win a set. In the first set, Menlo went on a 5-0 run to start the set and never looked back. Four different Oaks had kills in the first five points as Maddie Clegg got it started, followed by Jade Rockwood, Moea Kekauoha, and Emily Sunada. Arizona Christian managed to rally within 9-7. Menlo went on a 7-2 run to take a 16-9 lead. The Oaks would continue to simmer the Firestorms attack, as they would win the first set, 25-15.

The Oaks would continue to pour it on in the second set as they jumped out to a 6-2 lead. Arizona Christian only hung around for a couple more points in the set bringing the score to 7-5. Even with the score that close, Menlo would never falter and would capitalize off four errors by the Arizona Christian to go on a 9-3 run increasing the lead to 16-8. Arizona Christian would hang around for a bit, but could not overcome the deficit with Menlo winning the second set 25-19.

The third set started a little different than the first two sets as things were all even at 5-5 apiece to start things off. But that is when Menlo kicked it into hyperdrive, finishing the set on a 20-6 run to finish and win the set 25-11.

Everyone chipped in for the Oaks in the victory, Maddie Clegg leads the way in kills with 10. Eight Oaks would have at least one kill in the match. Jade Rockwood lead the way in assists with 30 of the teams 31. Menlo played fantastic defense in the match as they had 49 digs as a team. Hannah Hudson leads the way in that department with 15, followed by Moea Kekauoha who had 10 digs. The Oaks also had four aces in the match as Maggie McDonald had two of her own, with Emily Sunada and Kekauoha added one ace as well. Arizona Christian had a lot of self-inflicted wounds as they had 30 errors in the contest.

The Oaks will enjoy this victory but will get back to work quickly with their next match being tomorrow October 29th, against San Diego Christian College. Menlo has a 2-3 lifetime record against San Diego Christian.
