Pinewood ended its inaugural season of eight-man football with a dreary 16-14 loss to host Crystal Springs in a Coast Athletic League game on a rainy Friday. Pinewood finished 5-2 after starting the year 4-0.
Pinewood struck first on a 14-yard pass from Max Lippe to Gable Baze in the second quarter. Crystal Springs went ahead 8-6 in the third before both teams scored again.
Pinewood got the ball back with 3:13 left in the game and drove 67 yards. With just 31.3 seconds left and Pinewood on the CSU 8-yard line, Pinewood's hopes ended with a fumble that was recovered by Crystal Springs with :28 seconds left.
Lippe completed 10 of 16 passes for 122 yards. Defensively, Spencer Wise, returning from a concussion, led the team with 12 tackles, followed by Dante Fraoli with 10.
