The Palo Alto girls' tennis team set the stage for its showdown for the SCVAL De Anza Division title by beating Los Gatos for the second time this season, a 5-2 decision on Tuesday on the Vikings' courts.
Palo Alto (11-2, 19-2) will visit Saratoga (12-1, 17-2) on Thursday with a possible co-championship on the line. The Vikings dropped a 4-3 decision to the Falcons the first time the teams met.
In Tuesday's victory, which completed a sweep of Los Gatos for the first time in Paly coach Andy Harader's 11 years on the job, the Vikings swept the top three singles spots and took No. 2 and 3 doubles to wrap up the triumph.
While the doubles has been the team's strength -- Paly swept them in a 4-3 win at Monta Vista last Thursday -- the singles really dominated against the Wildcats. Paly sophomores Janet Liu (6-0, 6-0), Emma Marti (6-1, 6-0) and Mira Khanna (6-0, 6-2) all dominated their opponents.
Paly's No. 1 doubles tandem of Gracie Dulik and Sophie Biffar suffered a rare loss (5-7, 1-6, 11-9) but Lisa Ke and Margo Gerould (0-6, 6-4, 10-6) battled to win at No. 2 and juniors Christine Koepnick and Lauren Mah won easily at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1.
