Menlo-Atherton went on the road to defeat Aragon 38-35, improving M-A's league record to 2-0 and 5-2 overall, while Aragon dropped to 2-1 in league play and 3-4 overall. M-A's ground attack simply overpowered Aragon, as the Bears rushed for 503 yards and four touchdowns as a team. Vaughn Smith, Rod Nash, and Will Preston headlined M-A's rushing attack as each of them broke the century mark. Smith rushed for 244 yards with touchdown runs of 81 and 89 yards, while Nash had 109 yards rushing on just 11 carries. Preston, in only his second game as a running back, racked up 163 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 14 carries. Turner Baty threw for only 55 yards on two-of-seven passing, but had a touchdown pass for Sam Knapp. For Aragon, Isaiah Harris led the rushing attack, rushing 15 times for 99 yards. Quarterback Sam Tuivailala completed nine passes in 17 attempts for 202 yards, but had a late interception that sealed the victory for M-A. The Bears moved into first place in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division on Friday with the help of Woodside beating previously undefeated Menlo 35-2. With Menlo's lose, M-A remains the only team in the Bay Division with an undefeated record in league games. The Bears take on Menlo next Saturday at Menlo-Atherton.
