The Menlo College baseball team traveled 10 hours to play a home game Friday and made it count, beating San Diego Christian, 9-1, in a Golden State Athletic Conference contest behind righthander Ashkhon Kuhaulua, who tossed a one-hitter over seven innings.
Drake Richie was 4-for-4 and drove in a run for the Oaks (20-7, 7-3 GSAC), who won their ninth straight. Max Dutto and Dane Fujinaka each hit a home run for Menlo.
Kuhaulua (4-2) faced the minimum 21 batters, walking one and striking out 12. He leads the nation (NAIA) with 77 strikeouts.
The series was moved to Grossmont College in San Diego because of the weather conditions in the Bay Area.
