Junior Matt Walter ran for 134 yards and scored two touchdowns as Sacred Heart Prep kept its perfect season intact with a 41-26 blasting of host San Mateo on Friday night in a PAL Ocean B Division football game.
The Gators (3-0, 6-0) actually trailed by 7-0 early in the game, but an 89-yard kickoff return by Chris Gaertner got SHP rolling. Austin Koenig caught a 17-yard scoring pass from Ryan Sakowski and Walter ripped off a 49-yard touchdown run for a 21-7 first-quarter lead.
The Bearcats closed to within 21-19 before Matt Bocci's one-yard run before halftime provided the eventual winning points. Bocci helped the Gators rush for 266 yards on 43 carries. Victor Ojeda added 98 yards on 13 hauls. The Gators' defense did allow 216 rushing yards, but shut down San Mateo's passing game.
