The Menlo School boys opener their home soccer season with a 2-1 nonleague triumph over San Mateo on Friday. Menlo senior striker Will Chisholm hit each post in the first few minutes of the game before finally finding the back of the net after a good setup from senior captain Will Bleicher. The Knights (2-1) doubled their lead in the first few minutes of the second half. Freshman winger Ben Lasky beat a few players down the line before crossing the ball to senior forward Tyler McGraw, who flicked it on to junior defender Adam Moledina. Moledina took a touch then calmly slotted the ball in the side netting for his second goal of the season.
San Mateo narrowed the lead with a penalty kick midway through the half, but Menlo held on for the win. enior goalie James Adler and junior midfielders Daniel Hausen and Zack Hurwitz had strong performances in the win.
