The Menlo School boys dropped a 2-0 nonleague soccer decision to host Los Gatos on Wednesday. Menlo (1-1 overall) once again found itself behind early. After a defensive mistake turned the ball over in midfield, Los Gatos quickly played the ball forward. A misunderstanding between junior goalie Nolan Peterson and senior captain Andrew Arnold allowed the ball to fall to an open Los Gatos winger, who put the ball in the empty net.
Midway through the half, the Knights fell further behind after a giveaway in midfield allowed Los Gatos to move the ball forward. The Wildcats found an unmarked midfielder at the top of the box, who took a touch and blasted the ball into the top corner.
Menlo fought back in the second half but was unable to find the goal needed to get back in the game. Senior forward Will Chisholm and junior midfielder Jack Swisher both had chances off corners, but couldn't get their headers on target. Menlo was led by a strong performance by senior captain Michael Quezada.
