Sacred Heart Prep 76, Carmel 55
Date of competition: Saturday, September 26, 2015
The defensive coaches on either side of the field couldn't be happy with the final score in Saturday's nonleague football game between Sacred Heart Prep and host Carmel. The offensive coordinators, however, had plenty smile about as SHP romped to a crazy 76-55 victory. The point total is the highest in SHP program history. The Gators gained 460 yards on the ground and both teams combined for over 1,200 yards of offense.
SHP senior running back Lapitu Mahoni carried 22 times for a career-high 200 yards and scored on runs of 12, 6, 1 and 6 yards. Thomas Wine also carried 22 times and totaled a career-best 148 yards plus two TDs, providing the winning TD on a one-yard run in the third period. Senior quarterback Mason Randall threw only eight passes, completing seven for 145 yards and two scores while Andrew Daschbach caught three for 63 yards plus a 15-yard TD.
On the defensive side, David Peterson was in on 11 tackles and had an interception with a 21-yard return. Zane Elsafy was in on 10 tackles for the Gators (2-2).
