The Sacred Heart Prep girls avenged their only water polo loss of the young season and moved into the semifinals of the St. Francis Autumn Invitational following a pair of victories on Friday in Mountain View. The Gators (2-1) got seven goals from junior Maddy Johnston in a 16-4 romp over St. Ignatius before Johnston scored six more in a 17-5 win over Leland. Johnston missed the Gators' season-opening loss to Leland while helping the USA Cadet Women's National Team win a gold medal at the UANA Youth Pan American Championships in Kingston, Jamaica. Maddie Pendolino added five goals and Layla Waters had four against Leland, while Malaika Koshy tossed in three goals against SI.
