The Menlo School girls tennis team held off Mira Costa, 4-3, in the quarterfinals of the Golden State Tennis Classic on Friday at Stanford University. The Knights (3-0), who started the day with a 7-0 win over Valencia, clinched the match when the No. 2 doubles team of Schuyler Tilney-Volk and Vivian Liu recorded a 2-6, 7-6 (6) 10-3 victory. Menlo next will play Hawaii state champion Punahou on Saturday at Stanford at 8 a.m. A victory will put the Knights into the championship match while a loss means a shot at third place, both at Stanford at noon.
