The USA Women's Junior National Team opened up defense of its FINA Junior World Championship with a convincing 28-0 water polo victory over Mexico on Monday in Volos, Greece. Aria Fischer scored six goals and Makenzie Barr added five to lead a group of eight different goal scorers in the victory. Stanford's Jamie Neushul tallied four goals for Team USA with Cardinal teammate Jordan Raney adding one.
Team USA opened up a 6-0 lead in the first period and pushed it to 13-0 at halftime. The Americans continued the offensive surge in the third quarter by going up 20-0 and capped the match with eight goals in the final eight minutes to take the match 28-0. Team USA went 6 for 8 on power-play opportunities.
